Joe’s Deli first opened a satellite location at the Oishei Children’s Hospital back in 2017. Now, Joe’s is spreading its wings even further, by opening a satellite shop at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The new delicatessen will be situated on the ground floor of the Scott Bieler Clinical Sciences Center (in the former The Healthy Scratch location).
This is great news for the Medical Campus, but it’s also welcome news for the city, as this eatery will be open to the public. Joe’s Deli is already a big hit in North Buffalo, where it operates its original location on Hertel Avenue. Now it will be offering its signature fresh foods and smoothies in a modern café setting, at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Carlton Street.
“Good nutrition is so important for cancer patients on their journey to wellness,” says Linda Leising, BS, RD, CDN, Senior Clinical Dietitian at Roswell Park. “Having a variety of appealing and nutritious food options is a benefit for everyone on our campus, so we can’t wait to welcome Joe’s Deli to Roswell Park.”
When it opens in the beginning of December, the newest Joe’s Deli location will offer some of its fan favorites, as part of its special menu that it is creating for patients, staff, and visitors.
“We know that a meal is an important break in the day for everyone at Roswell Park, something I’ve seen firsthand as my own loved ones received care there,” says Joe Lyons, owner of the deli. “You need something fast, appealing and healthy. We knew Joe’s Deli could deliver on that, and we are honored to have a way to give back and be a part of the cancer center’s campus and community.”
Once open, Joe’s Deli will be serving up signature sandwiches and soups, daily specials, a grab-and-go section, and smoothies. Online ordering will be available, for added convenience.
