Erie County Earth Science Day teaches us about our home planet through interactive exhibits and demonstrations in a family-friendly setting
If you’ve been looking for another reason to go to Penn Dixie – ranked as the number one fossil park in the US, then you should consider attending Erie County’s Earth Science Day. This is the day when everyone is a scientist – it’s also a day to hunt fossils. But fossil hunting is just the beginning. A number of like-minded exhibitors will be in attendance on that day, including:
- Hamburg Public Library
- Buffalo Geological Society
- Explore & More: The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum
- Graycliff Conservancy
- NYGeology
- Past & Present Fossil and Rock Shop
Visitors to Penn Dixie will get a chance to participate in fossil hunting, and can explore the nature trails. Other activities include a Memory Quest challenge that will run throughout the day (teams of two or more must search around the park to answer questions and collect tokens to solve a puzzle).
Penn Dixie welcomes science enthusiasts from around the globe, to uncover trilobites, brachiopods, crinoids, and corals that lived in a shallow ocean 380 million years ago.
Erie County Earth Science Day is fun for all ages. It’s also an educational outing that kids will fondly remember for years to come.
