Now in its sixth year, the Citizen Planning School Champions for Change program will once again host a culminating event, the Idea Summit, as a way to celebrate the bright ideas and inspired leadership of citizen champions working across the Buffalo-Niagara region.
Join us for the 2022 Idea Summit on Saturday, May 14th from 9:30AM – Noon in 403 Hayes Hall on the UB South Campus.
Launched in the spring of 2014, Champions for Change is a program of One Region Forward’s Citizen Planning School and offered through the UB School of Architecture and Planning.
The program assists residents of Erie and Niagara counties with turning their ideas for change into action and implementing sustainable development in Western New York through a series of workshops, technical assistance, and hands-on skill building.
I’d say that citizen planning school has helped me understand the value of conversation.

“I’d say that citizen planning school has helped me understand the value of conversation,” said Rey Medina, 2nd year MUP student. “The time we spend with community members trying to create a meaningful back and forth of ideas can be more important than anyone just handing you a concept to work on, because their ideas come from how they view the environment around them. Something that planners should value more.”
The event is Free and Open to All!
Meet the Champions for Change
Champions for Change participants will give four-minute presentations about their community-based initiatives and ways that YOU can get involved! Come join us as guests will be invited to continue conversations and ideas for collaboration in an open house-style setting.
