After a 2 year pause, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade returned to Delaware Avenue on Sunday, March 20. Hundreds from across Erie County participated, and thousands lined Delaware Avenue to show their Irish Pride.
The parade action spilled out in all directions, including Allentown, which turned out to be a hot spot for the post parade party.
“The weekend was incredibly busy overall,” said Dino DeBell, co-owner of Allen Burger Venture. “Saturday there was a national bar crawl that was crazy – the place was packed and Allentown was hopping. Then on Sunday – parade day – there was a huge amount of people out. It seems like things are getting back to a sense of normalcy, but at the same time things are more a bit more tame, which is a good thing. This year, the parade crowd was really well behaved. I think that it’s been so long since people partied at these types of events, that they’ve fallen into some sort of routine. In previous years people were getting hammered and getting into fights. We still haven’t seen the late night crowds that we used to – people aren’t going out like they did pre-pandemic. So it was nice to see everyone out enjoying themselves this weekend. This was the first year that we opened our beer garden for parade day, with the fire pits, and the place was packed. It turned out to be a great parade day for everyone.”
Buffalo Rising photographer, Vincent Berbano, was at the parade to capture all the excitement and revelry!
