Saturday April 30, 2022 starting at 10 am – 4 pm via Zoom
Could there be a better day to get excited about the history of Irish people in Buffalo? For anyone that “bleeds green,” and knows that it’s St. Paddy’s Day, not St. Patty’s Day, we have a virtual event for you.
The Buffalo Irish Genealogy Society (BIGS) will be hosting its annual Gathering of the Clans virtually this year, via Zoom. Those looking to participate in the event, which is designed to promote Buffalo’s Irish heritage, while “sparking interest in their family history,” can register at bigswny.org/gathering-of-the-clans.
People with Irish heritage, possessing rare photos and documents, family stories, fascinating genealogy, et., with roots in Buffalo, will be especially interested in this event. The gathering is free and open to all, though registration is required.
The event will feature a keynote presentation by William Jenkins, PhD., author of the book The Irish in Buffalo and Toronto 1867-1916 Between Raid and Rebellion. There will also be presentations by local historians Ed Patton and Tim O’Connor, along with local Irish genealogy experts Diane Blaser, Nancy Koester, and Donna Shine (who will answer members’ questions). Anyone looking for information on contributing a presentation, or viewing the event schedule, can click here.
