Niagara Street is starting to hop. Maybe not the entire street, but from Busti to Tonawanda Street there’s a lot going on, and more on the way. As of tomorrow, Daddy’s Plants (tropical and desert indoor plant emporium) will officially open at 1250 Niagara Street.
It was during a visit to Bootleg Bucha kombucheria that I was invited to check out Pat and Billy Sandora-Nastyn’s new botanical digs, which was a pleasant surprise. The new plant shop is really incredible, and completely unexpected. Out of nowhere, this leafy enterprise has sprouted up, complete with brand new windows (street-side) in a warehouse building that also plays host to the Bootleg Bucha Kombucha Café, Resurgence Brewery, Blackman Cider, Co. (coming soon), Wildroot Floral (coming soon), and Love in Motion Yoga. Wildroot Floral and Daddy’s Plants are sharing a space, as they have likeminded products and services. Billy told me that he and Pat hope that the plant emporium becomes a place where people come to hang out. After all, who doesn’t like hanging out in a tropical oasis, complete with plants and a bottle of kombucha?
From a previous Buffalo Rising article on Daddy’s Plants:
“What started as a collection of just a few small plants quickly took over most of the free surfaces in our home,” says Pat. “Friends and family would regularly ask us for houseplant advice, and we knew there had to be other ‘plant parents’ in Buffalo who could benefit from a dedicated plant shop.”

“Whether you’re a seasoned plant parent or a newbie working on your green thumb, we can help you find something right for you,” says Billy. “As the son of a horticulturalist, I grew up visiting nurseries and greenhouses with my dad. I know that caring for plants can be intimidating to some people, which is why we always try to handpick a mix of varieties for every level of experience.”
Now, coinciding with National Indoor Plant Week, Daddy’s Plants will open to the public on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. It’s the perfect time of year to stock up on tropical and desert indoor plants, pots and planters, and accessories, in a space that is “to die for”. It looks as if Wildroot Floral will have some of their “beautiful flowers and everyday floral arrangements” available as well, although they have not announced when they will officially open.
You can follow Daddy’s Plants on Facebook, or visit the shop online. Also, be sure to sign up for the Daddy’s Plants newsletter.
