The International Institute of Buffalo will play host next Sunday to the 6th annual Yelp Without Borders event, highlighting Buffalo’s growing international, and refugee communities, while raising funds for the International Institute, and the work they do.
Over the past five years of Yelp Without Borders events have raised over $10,000 for the Institute, and one only needs to attend to see why this event has been so successful.
Yelp’s Buffalo Community manager, Alex Levine, and his Yelp team has once again assembled a vendor line-up that showcases some of the best ethnic restaurants Buffalo has to offer. Included in this year’s event will be:
- Sun Cuisines
- La Verdad Café
- Gourmet Lao Foods
- Lucy East African Cuisine
- Teton Kitchen
- Mandarin Garden
- Bomba Arepa
- Poutine & Cream
- Obviously Avi Catering
Joining this amazing collection of restaurateurs will be Resurgence Brewery sampling their delicious craft creations, and Teton Kitchen will be sampling unique drink choices of their own. For those less inclined to libations, Ashker’s Juice Bar will be providing samples of their fresh cold pressed juices.
Notable participants this year will be Chef Avi, Food Director for Nichols School, who will be coming on board to create a delicious tasting using seasonal and local ingredients. Among the newest participants, Bomba Arepa, a new Venezualan Arepa concept soon-to-be-restaurant will be doing their first public tasting of their arepas at the event, and Gourmet Lao Foods will be highlighting Laos culture with their booth, and La Verdad, a hot new cafe in Lovejoy on the east side will be providing a taste of their incredible BBQ offerings.
DJ Rock, Paul Spitale will keep the party grooving, and popular caricature artist Jeremy Stock will once again be providing guests with his artistic portrait renditions.
Levine encourages those who have never attended a Yelp event to consider making this their first.
“This event is a fun, multi-cultural food party in collaboration with some of the best ethnic food businesses in WNY. RSVP on Yelp and bring a donation to the International Institute at the door!” says Levine.
RSVP’s to the event are required, at the event page on Yelp.com at www.yelp.com/events/buffalo-yelp-without-borders-2019.
The event opens to the public on Sunday, September 22, at 3:00PM, at the International Institute, located at 864 Delaware Ave
