Yelp.com’s #1 Wings | Buffalo’s own Wingnutz, honored as Top Wings in NY!

Who has the best wings in Buffalo? That is the ultimate question. On National Chicken Wing Day, BuzzFeed reported that Buffalo’s Wingnutz wings are among Yelp’s Best Chicken Wings in the US! As WingNutz restaurant reaches its 1st Anniversary of the opening in the Knights of Columbus on 1530 Kenmore Ave in Buffalo, its wings have consistently received high remarks from Yelp’s reviewers, among other wing aficionados.

Personally, I find the wings addicting. Wingnutz extra-large wings are smothered in their homemade secret sauce, while so crisp. I often say, “Eddie’s wings are a science and an art – they are always perfect.”

One Yelp reviewer commented: “Wow! Just, Wow! Ed and Alicia have a small business that deserves far more exposure. This restaurant in the Knights of Columbus building is not at all what you’d expect. With a friendly greeting upon entering a room of round tables to the funny anecdotes Ed provides as your hand prepared meal cooks, this is a venue that makes you feel welcome.” – Scott M. Delmont, PA.

According to BuzzFeed, Yelp counted Wingnutz as the best Chicken Wing Spot in the State of New York. Developers, chefs, and Owners Ed and Alicia Wrazen are grateful to their customers.

“A Heartfelt Thank You to all who have visited the restaurant in this past year, and those whose Yelp reviews aided in this recognition,” stated the Wingnutz couple.

Wingnutz is currently located in the Knights of Columbus and is a little tricky to find, as many reviewers will tell you. Surprisingly, the decor is homey, like eating at Grandma’s.

“This is by far one of the most unique wing spots I have ever been too. A wing joint inside a Knights of Columbus? I’ve had wings all over from the east coast to the west and these are one of a kind! Best… Wings… Ever! Thank you, Ed and Alicia, for the care you take in your wings and sauces, and for your generosity for first responders and veterans, active duty and reservists.” – commented Yelp reviewer, David F. Las Vegas, NV

“Fantastic food. Amazing owners. Don’t give up trying to find it! It is In the Knights of Columbus Bldg.   These are flavorful, crispy and huge wings! Delicious. Made a believer out of a non-chicken wing eater and the chicken wing connoisseurs said they were the best wings they have ever had. Planning to return to Buffalo just for these wings when we are back on the east coast.   It’s a funky dining room but fun. Owners are entertaining and gracious. GO! You won’t be disappointed. Why are you still reading? Just GO!” – commented Yelp reviewer, Richard L. Canaan, NH

Wingnutz was created in 2005, as a home-based chicken wing catering operation. From there, the owners served as cooks in 2017 at Shenanigan’s Bar & Grill on Niagara Falls Blvd. In the spirit of serving the community, by popular demand, and after a 13-year journey, Wingnutz opened a restaurant in the Knights of Columbus at 1530 Kenmore Ave.

“We never would have dreamed that this type of recognition would be possible inside a year of opening the restaurant,” remarked Alicia.

“I was traveling through Buffalo on my way back from Canada, and I just wanted one thing. Just one ~ the best Buffalo wings I’ve ever had. Found it!” commented Yelp reviewer David G. Lexington, KY.

Since I met the owners almost a decade ago, their passion for serving the best wings has been their priority. The vision was to make people happy and to open a small restaurant with a limited menu – the vision proved to pay off. Congratulation Ed and Alicia – well deserved.

I have a passion for helping my fellow Western New Yorkers and advance the great things that are going on in this region. Buffalo Rising is a great booster and it’s a blast writing and contributing to BR about positive happenings in our neck of the woods. I appreciate the help I’ve received over the years from organizations and people who share my passion and supported me in efforts that put thousands of people to work and resulted in a community give back of more than $115M to Buffalo’s neediest during my days at the helm of AmeriCorps.

I’m especially grateful for the opportunities that enabled me to help cities devastated by Hurricane Katrina and rebuild more than 700 family homes that were destroyed. Back at home, I was able to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience as a coordinator for ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition where we were able to repair, beautify and upgrade homes for an entire neighborhood on Buffalo’s Westside. Other projects close to my heart include a collaboration with Sail Buffalo to build the Cazenovia Boating Center at Buffalo’s Outer Harbor, and my annual Christmas season time is spent at Buffalo’s treasure, the Broadway Market, playing Santa Clause.

In my other life, I am a workforce development, business, marketing, public relations and fundraising professional. Earned a M.S. Human Service Management from Buffalo State, and enjoy my family life that includes four amazing grandchildren!
