Development Concepts Shown for North Aud Block

The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) held an open house last night to unveil development concepts for Canalside’s North Aud Block.  The North Aud Block is bounded by Lower Terrace to the north, Main Street to the east, the canals to the south, and Commercial and Pearl streets to the west.

TY Lin International, a multi-discipline engineering firm with more than 60 years of experience in successful infrastructure development—including the design of multi-functional public landscapes and urban buildings—was selected by ECHDC to design, bid and provide construction management services for the development of infrastructure on the North Aud Block.  T.Y. Lin is working with Amsterdam-based architectural firm PPHP to prepare conceptual designs for the layout and potential development intensity on the two-acre site.

Three conceptual designs are under consideration, each proposing a mix of residential, retail, restaurant, parking, and open spaces.

The public will be able to provide feedback on the designs here.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
