While the West Side of Buffalo rallied around gardens this past weekend, a coalition of paint enthusiasts gathered on the East Side to celebrate street art and paintball. The second annual Paint vs Paint festival proved that this event is here to stay. Orchestrated by the Normel Paintball team, along with street artist Vinny Alejandro, the 2019 event turned out to be not only well attended, but chock full of super talented street artists from as far away as Copenhagen, Denmark.
“The 2019 Paint vs Paint festival held at Normel Paintball facility was as awesome as we thought it would be,” noted Alejandro. “Paintballs wizzing by, food trucks, the rattle of spraycans and old school hip hop, provided the most unique atmosphere this weekend. Graffiti/street artists created masterpieces as Dj Optimus Prime played killer cuts for the Verve dance crew to hold their “Battle @ Paint vs Paint” dance battle (which will now be held annually at this former industrial facility).
“About 35 Graffiti/street artists came from places like Tampa Florida, Boston, Delaware, and some from Canada, to spray the Normel Walls with fresh pieces of art. The hip hop vibe combined with some intense paintball battles, making for a non-stop-action weekend for onlookers. We would like to thank Dunkle and Sons Home Improvement, Cellino Plumbing, Great Foodini Food truck, Glaubs Collision, Underground Gym, Urban Inspirations, Mellow Slow Minerals, and especially Normel Paintball for sponsoring this amazing event. Next year will be even better!”
