Back in July of 2017, we featured a podcast by The Buffalo Effect, with special guest Zandra Cunningham. Zandra, who is now eighteen years old, began making lip balms at her kitchen table when she was nine years old. Ever since she first got the hankering to create a personalized lip balm, Zandra has never looked back. Instead, she has looked steadfast towards the future in an effort to develop her own skin care line called Zandra Beauty.
I remember running across Zandra at a local farmers’ market years ago, where she was selling her limited array of organic products. I remember thinking back then that this young girl is not just in it for the beauty aspect, she’s in it for the health aspect, which was pretty cool to see considering her age. After all, how many serious entrepreneurs are out there that launch a product line at the age of nine… especially one that is socially conscious?
Well, after dedicating her young life to developing and growing her business, Zandra has landed her line of products at Target. Zandra was just featured in BlackNews.com, and The GLOW Up, where she was called “a fresh face in the beauty business.” The articles applaud Zandra, with her line of 50 plant-based skincare products, who is now getting some well-earned shelf space for three of her products – nourishing hand & body lotion, exfoliating sugar scrub, and her signature lip and body balm. The “Treat Yo Self” gift box will be available nationwide at 707 Target stores. This is a giant boost for Zandra, who is also a big booster of empowering other young girls to realize their own dreams. It’s also another proud moment for Buffalo – a city that supports the thinkers, the dreamers, the makers, and others who set out to make their own unique entrepreneurial marks on the world.
