Cabin fever. Living in Buffalo, with unpredictable weather means we tend to spend a good amount of time in the house, resulting in the feeling of Cabin Fever. While this winter has been surprisingly mild, “Winter Storm Harper” is finally bringing us a good amount of snow, which means that we’re either hitting the slopes, hanging out at a local café, or hunkered down at home, reading and/or cooking (hopefully by the fireplace).
If you’re looking for that extra encouragement to get out of the house, you’re in luck. The Yelp Buffalo community has partnered with local businesses to provide opportunities for even the most winter-weary, and thrifty of Western New Yorkers to get out, and enjoy some winter activities. In a series of events titled “Yelp’s Cure for Cabin Fever,” Yelp community manager Alex Levine has created events that will have something to appeal to almost anyone.
Have you ever wanted to learn how to ski, or snowboard, but aren’t sure where to start? How about learn how to cook a healthy meal for yourself, family, or friends? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a cool place to hangout, to eat good food, or find some new date night ideas? Now you have the chance to get out an explore these activities, and some local hot-spots, and enjoy the heart of winter like never before!
Take a look at the roster of events on the Yelp.com site, which include snow tubing, and beginner skiing, and snowboarding lessons at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, or a fun, and games date night complete with a bar arcade at Misuta Chow’s. Other events include an Asian Soup Night with Teton Kitchen, cooking classes, and more events are being added. All make for a perfect excuse to break the dull cycle between your work-day, and staying home waiting for summer.
