There is an exciting new music series unfolding at the Central Park United Methodist Church in North Buffalo (Parkside/Central Park neighborhood). The church is perfectly suited to host the Steinway Sunday Performance & Lecture Series, partially due to the historic nature of the complex, but also because it is the setting of a beautiful parlor room that is anchored by a Steinway Grand piano. Known as the gold standard of musical instruments, the Steinway Grand will be the focal point of the monthly concert series (and lectures) headed up by a renowned jazz and classical pianist.
“Our Central Park United Methodist Church is presenting an exciting series of six, monthly concerts and lectures by Krista Seddon,” said Stephen N. Hunt, a member/supporter of the Central Park United Methodist Church. “Krista is an enormously talented jazz and classical pianist who combines this with a deep knowledge of the life and times of a huge range of jazz and classical artists. Krista is performing widely this year in celebration of the 100th birthday of Marian McPartland, with whom she had a close personal and professional friendship. Krista has chosen for Central Park the music of Marian McPartland herself, Duke Ellington, Tony Bennett, Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, and other selections of Marian McPartland’s favorite tunes. As well as illustrating the work of great artists, she presents vivid biographical sketches with depth and humor.”
This series raises funds for the historical building complex, which serves Buffalo as worship and outreach center.
