Chrisstofer Weishaupt, Jon Kozlowski, Samuel Defazio, Thomas Patrick Fritton, & Ryan Lewis draw inspiration from both modern Rock bands as much as Hardcore to create a blend that’s both accessible and heavy. Quickly rising to be one of Buffalo’s favorite new acts after their debut performance this past March, these guys are working hard on their debut recordings that’ll blow you all away!
Previous Love : Previous Love is a four piece alternative rock band hailing from Buffalo, New York. With swelling guitars and pounding rhythm sections, Previous Love feels like a daydream submerged in a harsh reality. The band recently finished recording their newest self-titled EP with Jay Zubricky (Every Time I Die, Head North, Pentimento), at GCR Studios.
Creating A Sinner : Singer/Songwriter Derek Gregoire is a mainstay at our annual BurtFest events, and this past year debuted his full band Creating A Sinner! This wicked crew out of Gowanda, NY is just trying to rock your socks off and have fun. Derek, Jason Meyers, Brian Walsh, & Devon Brodka bring together an infections blend of alternative rock that’ll get you dancing or singing right along!
Scathed : Scathed is an Alternative/Hard Rock band. Drawing from the energy of Punk and Metal music, Scathed incorporates concepts from hip hop, classical, and modern music, alike. The band formed in 2014 when Robby Deck (guitar, vocals) and Sean Laettner (drums) began jamming after tragedy struck Sean’s original band. CJ Westcott (guitar, vocals) came into the picture in early 2016, and Nathan Pecoraro (bass, vocals) joined in the summer of 2016. In their first year together, the band has grown immensely, and have become regulars at big bars in the Buffalo music scene, including Nietzsche’s, Stamps, Mohawk Place, Evening Star Concert Hall, and Iron Works, to name a few.
Among The Wolves : Among The Wolves is a band with a passion for music with heart and writes music with raw lyrical content and a dynamic sound rooted in punk rock. Dawson, Jonah, Chalndler, Ben, & Jesse aims to create unique music with raw emotion to connect with people in a powerful and meaningful way. Since 2015 they’ve been working and creating music that means something. There’s no problem that can’t be solved by screaming song lyrics at the top of your lungs with the radio on blast!
From The Branches Of Tide : Progressive Nü Metalcore is a fusion of progressive metal and metalcore characterized by highly technical lead guitar, “atmospheric” elements, and complex instrumentation. Singing may be included, but death growls are more prevalent. The genre is also reliant on the incorporation of “atmospheric sections,” ambient instrumentation and repetitive melodies & often feature intense breakdowns with heavily distorted palm-muted riffs. Frank Pascarella lives for perfecting this. Accompanied by Jordan DeHonney, Aaron Sutton, Alan Schrutt, & Josh Rogacki, they have made Buffalo, NY’s From the Branches of Tide a force to be reckoned with in a very short amount of time.
Lost Like Lions : Lost Like Lions formed from the ashes of a past local band called “This is Fiction” who performed at Thursday at the Harbor, sold out Mohawk Place, and even headlined The Town Ballroom. Singer/Songwriter Derrik Schiersing went out to Los Angeles, California to record the first LLL ep. The debut ep titled “The Way of the World” premiered on Alternative Buffalo 107.7, had an exclusive stream on popular music website “AbsolutePunk”, and features guest vocals from AJ Perdomo (The Dangerous Summer) and Jonathan Lullo (Down To Earth Approach). Now back in full swing, Joey Raab, Matt Kusmierz, & Jim Kaczmarski join Derrik as Lost Like Lions with infectious melodies & a rockin good time!
Beaches Of Europa : It all started in early 2017 when Kevin, Ryan, and August met each other at a UB Jam Club meeting. From there a friendship rose and jams were played. The three would meet after classes on weekdays or weekends and play music. After several months in the mid-2017 current lead singer, Sasha and ex-drummer Alex A. joined and “Sliced Bread” was born. Fall 2017 current drummer Alex B. took over the percussion duties for Sliced Bread. Several months later, in April this five-piece alternative rock band performed for the first time, under the new name: “Beaches of Europa”.
Amateur Hockey Club : Ever read something that changed your life? Amateur Hockey Club claims “This story won’t be it. But, sometimes the greatest revelations can come from something as silly as a Laffy Taffy wrapper, or the back of a Molson Canadian bottle.” Matt Foote, Brennan Carey, Nate Beyer, & Mitch Lariviere write songs about love, loneliness, faith, doubt, hopes and disappointments. They also strum guitars with strings, bang drums with sticks, and throw rocks at trains and it seems to be working for them so far.
John Harris & The Otherworldly Entities : John Harris Music was born in Syracuse, NY but spent 10 years playing and performing in Buffalo, NY where he played bass in Thrown to the Wolves and formed Avius Me. John Harris has opened for acts like Sean Danielsen of Smile Empty Soul, Opus of Dead by Wednesday, Trapt, and Smile Empty Soul. John is also known as a jewelry and fashion designer for his 7 years as owner and executive designer of JPHii DESIGN.
Dilettante : Dilettante is “A 5 piece Alternative/Punk band from Buffalo, New York. Brought together through a love of music, we’re here to enrich the spectrum of life by sharing our passion, our strengths, and our weaknesses with the most surreal form of expression. To our fans, our friends, and our families, we treasure you all.” Erik Wik fronts this quickly rising Buffalo band with a persona and voice to match with the greats. Ryan Lewis, Christina Benavides, Phil Thomas, & Chris Stevens fill out the sound with intricate songwriting bouncing between trembling and quaking.
Film House : Formerly Improbable Cause, Film House brings Dominic Hannon, Aidan Krombach, Kyle Schnieder, & Drew Colosimo into a new realm of Alternative Rock. Their adventure has begun, and this one is sure to be a big one. With Dominic at the new helm of lead singer, he summons his inner front-man somewhere between the persona of Dave Grohl and those new pop alternative tracks on Alternative Buffalo. Get your ticket into the house, and see what these guys have put together for the world to enjoy!
Cheap Peach : This mismatch comes out of Fredonia, NY from a couple of music students wanted to make a lot of noise. The groovy good time is a combination of Brendan Ryan, Dillon Slater, Jade Hoch, & Tyler Will. Together they jam an alternative rockin sound, that rings familiar to modern music fans but with a twist all their own. Good guys, good times, pop on down for a good Cheap Peach!
Maxwell Doldan : In music, there are sections of songs or compositions that give the audience a sense that they are journeying with the composer. Sometimes they’re found early on in the piece, inviting the listener to experience from beginning to end the revelation being conveyed. Other times, the author waits until the closing remarks in a song to bring the listener alongside them. For Maxwell Doldan, the journey begins from the first note. The simple utterance of sound leads him out of his fears, his doubts, his worries; He is free in that moment to be real and unrestricted. He wanted to facilitate that experience in others. This is a starting point for him to see that dream manifest.
Insoluble : The brand spakin’ new Buffalo-based Prog Rock band Insoluble brings together three veteran players. Think Rush meets Primus meets King Crimson meets some Blues & Jazz. Matthew Ruhl (formerly of With Distance Come Distraction), Kevin Flynn (of Spacelord), & Joseph Sikorski (formerly of Lunar Eyes) make music that blends every genre with a helpful dose of meth. Don’t miss these guys, as they’ll be making a scene in town throughout the upcoming year!
