We don’t cover store closings often here at BRO, but when one closes at Buffalo’s Main and Main corner, it catches our eyes. Main and Court actually. CVS in the Main Court Building has abruptly shuttered its doors catching many downtown workers and residents off guard. The drug store has occupied the prominent corner since at least the 1980s. Pedestrian traffic at the site is one of the highest downtown, making the closing all the more surprising. The area will not be without a drug store. A Rite Aid at 452 Main Street next door is open.
The 13-story Main Court Building was built in 1963 as the home of Western Savings Bank. Prominent tenants over the years have included Goldome Bank and Delaware North. Priam Enterprises purchased the property in 2014.
