Call for Work: Silo City Summer Solstice Project 2019

For the first time ever, in 2019, Buffalo Arts Studio is teaming up with Silo City to conduct an immersive arts project called Silo City Summer Solstice Project. At this point, there is a call for artists from Buffalo Arts Studio – the application period is open through March 15, 2019. According to the organizers, “There is a $1,000 honorarium for selected projects.”

Over the years, Silo City has become a cultural playground for artists, musicians, theater groups, and countless other dreamers and performers. The backdrop of the hulking silos is a sensational spot to envision a wide range of new creations. And now that Duende Restaurant and The Catina are open, there’s more to see and do, while eating, drinking, and socializing.

Artists interested in applying for the Call for Work should visit this site. Here’s the timeline of events:

  • Call for Work through March 15, 2019
  • Artist Selection April 15, 2019
  • Artists begin to work May 2019
  • Artwork installation June 14, 2019
  • Summer City Solstice Festival Opening Celebration June 21, 2019

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
