Buffalo’s Own Funk-Rock Quartet ponder to Embark on International Tour in March

On March 12th, Buffalo funk-rock quartet, ponder, will hit the road to bring their energetic live set to new ears around North America. The group will be stopping in Hamilton, ON at The Doors Pub on March 12th with support from local groups Foxhound and Forever Distracted, before heading out to Montreal, QC the next day to play at La Marche à côté with Andria Piperni. On March 14th, ponder will head into Burlington, VT to play a set on the legendary Nectar’s stage along with local group The Melting Nomads. The following day ponder will be in Plattsburgh at The Monopole Bar, and then will head out to Albany to play at Parish Public House on March 16th. St. Patrick’s Day will bring the band home, where they are performing at Buffalo Iron Works with support from local group, Mosswalk.

ponder began in 2015 as “Ponder the Giraffe”, a trio based at SUNY Geneseo. In 2017, the group solidified with full time members Sam Shafer (guitar/vocals), Marcus Peters (drums), Andy Hogan (bass/vocals) and Gabe Birkby (vocals/guitar) forming the core of the group. ponder later added featured musician Andy Fisher (trumpet) before releasing their new single, ‘Fits the Scene’ in September 2018. With plans to release new music, as well as more extensive touring, ponder is poised to bring their engaging brand of music to many new fans. The band is currently working in their studio to garner material for upcoming spring and summer tours.

After months of hard work and a string of pretty good luck, we were able to secure dates at some of our favorite spots and at new venues we’ve been aiming to play at for a few years now,” said Birkby. “It’s really a dream come true to be able to hit the road, and we’re ready to take our revamped set on the road with us. Now we have all of February to work in our secret studio lab and cook up a ton of new material. The support this area has shown is immeasurable and we’re excited to show everyone what we’ve been up to.”
