ponder began in 2015 as “Ponder the Giraffe”, a trio based at SUNY Geneseo. In 2017, the group solidified with full time members Sam Shafer (guitar/vocals), Marcus Peters (drums), Andy Hogan (bass/vocals) and Gabe Birkby (vocals/guitar) forming the core of the group. ponder later added featured musician Andy Fisher (trumpet) before releasing their new single, ‘Fits the Scene’ in September 2018. With plans to release new music, as well as more extensive touring, ponder is poised to bring their engaging brand of music to many new fans. The band is currently working in their studio to garner material for upcoming spring and summer tours.
“After months of hard work and a string of pretty good luck, we were able to secure dates at some of our favorite spots and at new venues we’ve been aiming to play at for a few years now,” said Birkby. “It’s really a dream come true to be able to hit the road, and we’re ready to take our revamped set on the road with us. Now we have all of February to work in our secret studio lab and cook up a ton of new material. The support this area has shown is immeasurable and we’re excited to show everyone what we’ve been up to.”
