Do you remember slime? You know, that green stuff that came in a small garbage can… You could play with it, and it felt really weird to handle. It also made some pretty crazy sounds when you stuck your fingers into the cans. It appears as if this squirmy substance is making a comeback, but not in a way that you might imagine.
There’s a craft movement afoot, where people appear to be making slime and selling it. The slime comes in a wide array of colors, and there are some wacky decorations that are added to the various concoctions. Similar to the way DIY crafters are making custom candles, the indie slime movement features cans of slime that look like cookies, ice cream, rice crispy treats, galaxy, cloud with snow, breakfast cereals, cookie dough, princess sparkles… if you want to catch what I’m throwing at you, check out this Instagram page. It’s captivating… it’s bizarre… it’s funky… it’s slime!
On Saturday, January 26, an event called Buffalo Slime Time is set to get underway at Embassy Suites by Hilton Buffalo, 200 Delaware Avenue. Guests are invited to come meet their favorite slimers from Instagram, including @theslimehive (lead image) and @h0nestslimereviews. There will be all sorts of slime activities, and everyone will have a chance to purchase the slimes of their choice.
It’s incredible that the slime trend has returned. And I’m not talking about Nickelodeon Channel where people got slimed – I’m talking about the old school green slime (and slime with worms), which has taken on a completely brand new craft twist.
