Leave it to developer Rocco Termini to come up with an idea that involves putting giant larger than life blow up snow globes on the roof of Tappo Restaurant in Downtown Buffalo. Actually, it was a friend of his that saw the snow globes/clear igloos online, and suggested that Termini look into it. Termini said that the second he saw the snow globes, he knew that he needed them for the roof of Tappo. So he ordered one to see if it was as good as it looked online.
When it arrived, it proved to be better than he even hoped – it was spacious, with enough room for tables and chairs for eight diners each. Plus, each one could be heated and lit up with sparkling lights, creating quaint little dining areas for people, no matter the how cold, snowy, windy, or rainy the weather. Termini told me that he plans on using the snow globes throughout the fall, winter, and early spring. It’s the perfect way to extend the patio season, while giving diners something fun to talk about (just think of the selfies).
At the moment, there are six snow globes, but Termini is already considering ordering some more. “The phone is ringing off the hook,” he told me. “At this time, it’s reservation only for dinners. Each of the snow globes can accommodate eight people – you need eight people to reserve one. They all have electric heat and Bluetooth speakers. For New Year’s Eve, we are reserving the snow globes for the following time slots – 5pm, 7pm, and 10pm. Diners will have an hour and 45 minutes to enjoy the spectacular atmosphere. Once again, reservations only because dinners must be pre-ordered so that servers can time the food and drink deliveries, with as few interruptions as possible.”
