I have no idea how anyone in their right mind could think that rolling out a retired, back-up QB, who has been on the team for 2 weeks, was a better idea than playing Nathan Peterman. The stupidity and ineptitude from the Bills organization could not be shining any brighter, and it is about to be on full display when the Patriots come to town next Monday night.
Forget the game yesterday, the only thing worth talking about is how to fix it. For almost 25 years, this organization has whiffed on finding the most important position in sports. When they finally take the step and pick Josh Allen (the dud of the group), they proceed to march him out in week 2 as the starter, thus ruining any chance of success for this poor kid.
The Bills regime will never admit to how badly they messed up while picking Allen, and then panicking when Peterman stumbled out of the gates. This is why the Pegulas are going to have to step in and cut the cord with the people that made these choices.
I would be more than happy to offer my free advice on how they can fix this problem once and for all.
IF Derek Carr is truly available for as little as a 2nd round draft choice, the Bills need to seriously consider how to make that work. Yes, Carr has a big contract, but Allen is on his rookie deal and you are allowed to have two highly drafted QBs on the same team. They can sit Allen the remainder of this year as well as next year while Carr takes over. Buffalo can then draft another QB in the 2nd round of the draft while the 3 QBs then battle it out in training camp. I have ZERO doubt that Derek Carr will emerge as the franchise QB of this team and everything else will fall into place.
If in 2 years Josh Allen shows that all of his sitting and learning the game proves he is a high end QB, trade him and get all of those draft picks back. This team can no longer scratch and claw its way through the season just to stumble into the playoffs, they need to solidify the one position that has been missing for decades.
Do the right thing, make the decision that goes against everything all of these supposed NFL gurus will say is wrong. Find your QB, admit your mistakes, and then spend the cap money and picks next year on weapons to help the offense.
Are we ready to find out 3 years from now that Allen just does not have it and start the rebuild all over again? Now is the time to play the odds and NOW is the time to go after Derek Carr.
