Time for Bills Management to Panic

This season has nothing to do with wins or losses, but it does have everything to do with making sure Buffalo picked the right QB. As it stands right now, even after just 6 games, it’s time to panic. Other than 2 quarters of football vs Minnesota, Josh Allen has looked absolutely awful out there on the field. As much as the scouting reports screamed “stay away”, the Bills brass just could not overlook this physical specimen who can throw the ball 80 yards in the air (cue the Uncle Rico jokes).

All I ever wanted in a QB was accuracy and good decision making. These are the two things that were not listed as positive attributes in the Josh Allen scouting report. Remember when 4 QBs were taken in the JP Losman draft and the Bills, of course, got the only one that amounted to nothing? Well, here we go again folks, because as it stands right now, it looks like the Bills once again picked the dud of the bunch. I want to like this kid, I really do, but all of his major shortcomings seem like they are skills that can’t be taught. Wasn’t the one attribute Allen was supposed to have the deep ball? I have not even seen one of those come within 5 yards of the receiver.

Listen, I know it’s early, but I am just wanting to see a slight improvement over each game. The defense and the Oline seem to be improving each week while Allen seems to be regressing. I am not blaming Allen one bit for these shortcomings as he was already regarded as the biggest project in the draft. Buffalo put him in a terrible position, surrounding him with no weapons, and could not have screwed this up any more if they had tried. Let’s just hope that a light goes on and he proves me wrong as fast as possible. Part of that will be up to the coaches and part of that will be up to Allen himself. Until then, it’s hard not to wonder if more draft picks were thrown out the window while the never-ending search for an offense continues.
