Sunday Jazz and Blues Brunch @ The Tabernacle

Every Sunday, Buffalo radio personality Anita West (97 Rock) hosts a live music brunch at The Tabernacle starting at 11am. This is the first jazz and blues music series to kick off at the space – this coming Sunday is the 7th show in the series.

The Sunday Jazz and Blues Brunch @ The Tabernacle (adjoining Sweet_ness 7 Café) got its start thanks to the friendship between venue owner, Prish Moran, and West. “I was a big Sweet_ness person from the start,” said West. “I watched the process unfold. Now, I consider The Tabernacle the ‘Calumet’ of Grant Street. It just doesn’t get any better than this – it’s truly a work of art. It’s also neat being in a ‘church’ on Sundays, with a full bar, home cooked food, while listening to such incredible WNY talent. I work with high end players that know how to play the room, but there are also some fabulous up and comers.”

“It’s such an organic experience,” said West. “Until the series began, I did not realize that some of the musicians were also working musicians in the church. It’s been a tremendously satisfying experience. Every week it’s completely different. I am so happy to see that there are more and more Sunday live music brunches popping up around the city – the thing that makes this one so different is that it’s in an old church. So it’s a bit like being at church on Sunday – all denominations are welcome!”

There are 11am shows every Sunday for the foreseeable future, except for on the date of November 4 (conflict in booking). This relatively new Sunday Jazz and Blues Brunch @ The Tabernacle has gotten off to a great start, and will definitely be a staple music series in Buffalo for as long as West and friends are digging the music and the scene. By all accounts, the West Side will be movin’ and a groovin’ for a long time comin’.
