No matter how bad we thought the Bills might be this year, nobody could have predicted the blowout that was witnessed yesterday. I thought that Peterman did deserve to start. But after the Ravens game, I am seriously wondering if it would be wise to ever put that guy on the field again (especially at home). I have been of the opinion that Allen should not start until the latter part of this year but after yesterday, I just don’t see how McDermott could go in that locker-room and tell those players that Nate is the starter.
If it could be guaranteed that Allen was not going to get injured behind that terrible line, I would say go right ahead and let him learn on the fly. Unfortunately, I really think that the line is THAT bad, and that injury to the QB should be a real concern.
This team is not nearly as bad as we saw yesterday. I really do believe that, despite every unit of the Buffalo Bills performing miserably. If they name Allen starter, I think we will see a different game-plan with a lot of improvement. Is this a playoff team? No, but this year was never going to be about the playoffs.
The entire off-season was used to improve the defense (did not look like it yesterday). Next year it will be time to build up the offensive line and receivers. Until then, I believe Buffalo has to start Allen and have him play through this mess. Allen wants to be out there, and the remainder of this season needs to be focused on seeing a little improvement each week.
