One of Buffalo’s coolest enterprises has officially opened up its new digs in Downtown Buffalo. Back in November of 2017, Oxford Pennant announced that it was building out a flagship store at 731 Main Street (pretty close to New Era, if you think about it).
This is big news for downtown, because Oxford Pennant, like New Era, specializes in such a niche market. Owners Dave Horesh and Brett Mikoll identified a market need in an obscure industry, and set out to capitalize on it. This is the same company that now retains a client list that includes the likes of Adidas, Facebook, Google, Burton, WordPress and Yahoo!
What started off with online shopping and popup shops (see here) has now become a full fledge retail operation (new store and showroom) that sells its products locally, and all over the world.
Our hometown pop-up days are behind us. This one’s open for good.
A recent newsletter stated, “In addition to our full catalog of pennants, flags and banners, our store features rising American brands like Ebbets Field Flannels, Tellason, Bradley Mountain, Howl + Hide, and many more.”
Oxford Pennant is also carrying a new line of Oxford products such as tees, hoodies, mugs, and socks. The news just keeps getting better and better.
I’ve got a couple of Oxford Pennant pennants hanging in my house, because I like to fly the “Buffalo flag”. I’ve also seen a lot of these pennants hanging at friends’ houses. Not only do these pennants and flags show one’s enthusiasm for sports teams, hometowns, schools, biking, architecture, or anything else that strikes the fancy, they also show a certain love for Buffalo (no matter where they hang). Every time one of the flags or pennants is packaged up and sent out of town, a little hometown spirit goes along with it. Now, this is a homegrown company that we can all get behind.
