A second phase of construction is underway at AXIS 360, a student housing complex off of LaSalle Avenue, a half block east of Main Street and south of the University at Buffalo South Campus.
Legacy Developments’ $40 million, six-building complex will contain about 700+ beds in apartment style suites geared towards college students upon completion. A total of 339 units include studio to three-bedroom layouts.
According to the website of lead architect Charles Gordon, the development “emphasizes a ‘complete streets’ model highlighted by short blocks, lively glassy and friendly street corners, and a series of very small scale usable courtyards. […] Extensive surface parking requirements are hidden behind individual buildings in small pods that feel appropriate to the surrounding neighborhood scale.”
Apartments are fully furnished with in-unit laundry facilities and rent includes high-speed wireless Internet, cable, heat, water, recycling, trash, and sewer. Shuttle service is provided for students. Monthly rents start at $810 per student for a three-bedroom plan, two bedrooms are $830, and studios are $1000.
The pet friendly community features a clubhouse that includes a 24 hour fitness center, a pool sized hot tub, and individual study rooms.
