This weekend is Buffalo Comicon. That means that it’s time to get dressed up as your favorite superhero or video character. Once you’re good to go, you can head on over to the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, where you can mingle with some pretty awesome talents, including Jim Shooter was one of the writers for Superman at DC Comics – he started when he was 13 years old in 1965! Shooter also wrote for the Avenger series, and headed up the creative teams that developed G.I. Joe and Transformers. If you’ve been looking to rub shoulders with someone that understands what it takes to create legendary superheroes, Shooter is your guy.
Buffalo’s best pressing expert, Mr. Darren Tucci, will also be on hand to discuss ways to upgrade comic collections, starting with ways to “press” them. Tucci, who runs a business called Pressing Matters, can also answer myriad other questions pertaining to comic book collections, including pricing.
Roselyn Kasmire will be at the show as Supergirl – Kasmire is also a local children’s book author. The event will also feature free comic books, artists, Indy publishers, inkers, Ninja Turtles, The North Ridge Star Wars Fan Force, The Buffalo Ghostbusters, Stephanie Phillips – graphic artist and comic book writer, American Force Academy (martial arts school), Power Ranger Kat Hillard, Yellow Zeo Ranger Nakia Burrise, actor Jeremy Palko, author Alec Frazier, Via Bella, George Edward Lowe – the voice of Space Ghost, Upstate NY unit of the Fighting 501st Legion, Author/publisher Sam Miserendino, Bob Hubbard -cosplay pinup artist, Queen City Pinups, Susan Hubbard as Steampunk Harley, The Justice League of WNY, WNY’s biggest Cosplay, virtual reality and video gaming, costume/cosplay contest, and a heck of a lot more.
