On Saturday, July 14, starting at 10:00 am, fans and supporters of the Buffalo Belt Line will have a chance to travel a section the route, guided by two Belt Line aficionados, Chris Hawley and Derek Kane. The two will take participants on a tour that will lead along an integral section of the route, starting at the West Side and Black Rock section of the Belt Line. Members of Vision Niagara will join the group at Bootleg Bucha for a “tour and tasting”. The group will also make a pit stop to Community Beer Works to cool off with a refreshing beer.
Along the way, participants will hear stories regarding the history and importance of the Belt Line – a rail line that formed a “belt” around Buffalo. There are many people who are looking to bring the Belt Line back into action, thus creating a reenergized, seamless form of public transportation that would connect major destinations around the city. In fact, the Belt Line would be an excellent candidate for the $5 million in NYSERDA funding that is currently in play.
The Belt Line tour is sponsored by Legacy City Preservation Conference- Buffalo. Vision Niagara is requesting a small donation of $5.00 for this event to help them continue to develop and promote their neighborhood. If you have registered with the Legacy City Preservation Conference, no donation required.
