Rise and shine! It’s time to get the kids out of the house. This summer, Explore and More Children’s Museum continues to offer up its inspirational (and free) “Summer Fun” programming, which is the perfect way to let your little guys and girls unwind. In order to accommodate children all over the region, Explore and More is offering a couple different weekly activity sessions – one at Canalside, and one at the their current headquarters in East Aurora.

Explore and More is in the process of building a new museum at Canalside. It won’t be long before the new building is completed – shovels are in the ground and crews are working around the clock to prepare the museum’s new home, which will be a huge waterfront attraction when it opens in the second half of 2018.

In the meantime, if Canalside sounds appealing, for some free outdoor activities, then Family Fun Fridays is for you. Each Friday, Explore and More offers a different educational play zone area, where kids can let loose with crafts, games and activities. These Friday play sessions start on June 23 – duration is between 11am and 2pm. Check out the following Canalside schedule to see which dates align best with your schedule:

June 23: Farm-to-Fork

June 30: Driving Buffalo’s Dreams

July 7: Playing Together

July 9: Recycled Creations (Sunday)

July 14: Rooftop Garden

July 21: Building Buffalo

July 28: OFF

August 4: OFF

August 11: Tinkering

August 18: Moving Water

August 25: Fine Arts Day

August 27: Imagination Playground (Sunday)

*These programs are FREE to you thanks to the generous sponsorship of Wegmans and WNY Immediate Care.

If East Aurora is closer to home, then you might want to pencil in a couple of Wednesdays into your date book. Every Wednesday, children are encouraged to Wander the World with Wednesday WOWs at the Museum. Participants will learn all sort of interesting tidbits about foreign lands, including culture, crafts, traditions, performances, food, clothing, and language. The free activities take place between 11am and 2pm on the following Wednesdays in July and August:

July 5 – India

July 12 – China

July 19 – Germany

July 26 – Somalia

August 2 – Italy

August 9 – Poland

August 16 – Burma

August 23 – Yemen

August 30 – Colombia

*Wednesday WOW programs are ongoing from 11am – 2pm, and FREE with your admission thanks to New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Explore & More Children’s Museum is currently located at 300 Gleed Avenue in East Aurora, and will open in the South Aud Block at Canalside on the Buffalo waterfront in the second half of 2018. For more information, visit or call (716) 655-5131 ext. 11.
