One of this city’s most prolific musicians, Eric ‘Critt’ Crittenden, has set out of capture the Future Sounds of Buffalo. He’s doing this by taking some of this city’s youngest, talented musicians and getting them up on stage. After all, a dream of just about any aspiring musician is to get a chance to be under the spotlight. And that’s what Crittenden intends to do.
For years, Crittenden has worked with junior musicians, challenging them to go places. Now he will be propping many of these musically inclined kids up on stage, for a series of boardwalk shows at Canalside. The lunchtime (12-2pm) concert series starts Monday June 26, 2017.
With over 10 virtuosic performers on the roster already, the soundtrack to Buffalo’s clear and present renaissance is original, soulful, harmonious and in real good hands!
There couldn’t be a better local musician to take these kids under his wing. Crittenden himself has worked alongside the likes of Outer Circle Orchestra, Tiger Chung Lee, Soul Roach and Sinbad (the comedian). He has also made his way onto the stage accompanying music legends such as Bob Weir and Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead, Michael Franti, Arrested Development and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
Crittenden’s background of funk, roots and jazz has provided him with a breadth of musical knowhow that allows him to produce his own acclaimed shows via Critt’s Juke Joint, while being able to share his knowledge of music with the next generation of up and coming Buffalo musicians – the Future Sounds of Buffalo.
“Simply put, young artists need to perform. Period. They need to get on stage and show Main St. what they’re all about,” says Crittenden, Founder/CEO of Future Sounds of Buffalo. “Environment shapes behavior and we have a responsibility to create an engaging arts and entertainment environment for the future. I consider it an honor and a purpose that while I still have a voice musically in this city, I’m bringing the youngsters along for the ride. It’s show time!”
