The group WateNotWantNot (WNWN) is organizing a community bike ride and meal on Thursday, May 25, from 3:30pm to 9:30pm. WNWN’s goal is to curb the food waste that is generated throughout Buffalo. This is the same group that organizes free weekly food shares – covered on BRO this pat January. The ultimate goal of this group is to establish a Pay-As-You-Feel café, somewhere in Buffalo. The concept behind the café would be to serve meals that are primarily derived from food that would otherwise be wasted. What a great idea.
The upcoming bike ride and meal is also a drive to collect food that would otherwise be thrown out. The food collected during the ride will be cooked and shared at the end of the event. The effort is to spread awareness of the amount of food that is wasted on a daily basis. It’s also meant to figure out ways to utilize that excess food in resourceful ways. By coming together to take action, while discussing the problem at hand, there will be strides made to solve a problem that is more widespread than any of us can possibly imagine.
The ride will start and end at the Buffalo Niagara Hostel at 667 Main Street.
