For a second year running, Amor & Heritage is offering free ethnic diversity dance classes for Buffalo youth this summer. The classes are meant to teach young people the positive personal attributes of possessing a strong character, by accepting diversity. Instructors plan to instill these qualities through narration, traditions, crafts, and teamwork activities. Students will learn about various ethnic cultures, the history of dance, and music styles. They will do this via participatory activities that include dance movement programs (Dance classes, Workshops, FunDanceGo), designed to teach the importance of staying active and healthy.
“We will talk about the importance of tolerance and acceptance of cultural differences, about having love for our heritages, so in that way, to increase tolerance and the self-esteem of the participant (the more we know, the more we love who we are). We will use positive lyrics, and multicultural high energy music.” – MarCe Zerrate, Founder, Executive Director Amor and Heritage Inc.
On top of learning the importance of accepting others and appreciating diverse cultures, students will enhance their own self esteem, while having fun at the same time.
These free healthy and wholesome classes are made possible thanks to Families of FANA, Give for Greatness and The Rotary Club Niagara Medical Campus.
