For a quarter of a century, Buffalonians have been participating in the annual AIDS Walk Buffalo. That’s right, we’ve been getting fit while raising awareness and funds for a worthy cause. It’s time, once again to recognize the battles that HIV+ afflicted people continue to face, while remembering those who lost the fight for their lives.
AIDS Walk, a 5K (3.1 mile) fundraising walk, serves to raise awareness of the impact HIV/AIDS continues to have on Western New York.
Not to mention that this walk is the perfect opportunity to get together with friends and family, to enjoy the natural beauty of Hoyt Lake (Gala Waters) in Delaware Park. Funds raised on event day are directed to Evergreen Health Services, an agency that helps to provide medical care, case management, counseling, housing assistance and nutritious meals to those dealing with HIV+ related issues. The funds are also directed towards helping to create awareness, while providing prevention education for at-risk groups, including teens.
