Sushi lovers generally get their fix at a handful of local restaurants. Going out for sushi is a real treat, although it can also be a bit pricey if you rely solely on others to make it for you. Serious sushi fans, at one time or another, have tried their hand at preparing sushi for themselves, which is not nearly as easy as one might imagine. For example, it’s called sticky rice for a reason. Trying to assemble nigiri (thinly sliced fish over vinegared rice) looks easy when a pro is at hand, but once you attempt to try it yourself, things can get very messy.
For those sushi fans who never gave up on the dream of being able to prepare their own sushi at home, you’re in luck. On Monday, April 24, starting at 6pm, chef/entrepreneur Mike “A” Andrzejewski will be participating in a workshop that will help participants to understand the basics of sushi making, including rice preparation, seafood selection, rolling techniques and proper knife skills.
Finally, this is your chance to learn how to make sushi for yourself and your friends.
The class is $45.00. Participants will get to eat their sushi creations at the workshop.
The Sushi Masters Workshop will take place at Trocaire’s state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, located at its Transit Road Extension Center in Williamsville. Seating is limited – be sure to register by clicking here.
