This Sunday, April 23, Maddgrafix will be hosting a Graffiti BBQ at its newest location, 408 Amherst Street. This is the first big blowout hosted by Maddgrafix since taking up residence on the street. As promised, tattoo artist and entrepreneur Mark Madden will be unleashing a series of Madd-tat inspired events at the new headquarters. These events will feature artists, live music, and everything else anyone would want have a Madd-ish good time.
Sunday’s Graffiti BBQ is open to the public, and will feature live action graffiti wall painting by Vinny AJ Alejandro (Buffalo), Alex Pastor (Philadelphia), and others. There will be live music featuring The Poor Boys, with Mic Excel at the DJ helm. WNY Vinyl will be on hand slinging vinyl too. There will even be a blank wall for kids to try their hand at graffiti in a controlled environment. Plus, you don’t want to miss the Maddgrafix party bus getting a new paint job…
Madden says that he’s excited to be a part of the Black Rock event scene and hopes that the entire community comes out to celebrate spring with great art, tunes and barbecue of course!
He also noted that he is consolidating all of his tattoo shops onto Amherst Street, as he recently got a two month notice to vacate his prime spot at the corner of Elmwood and Forest, in preparation for the new development to be built (he believes).
This is a family-friendly event – there will be tents on hand in case of inclement weather. There will also be (limited) free food available (Spar’s European Sausage is across the street), but guests are welcome to bring something to throw on the barbie – it’s a potluck sort of thing. Bring some shareable plates too, if you want. Or just hang out and listen to the tunes. It’s all good at Maddgrafix.
The event is sponsored by Maddgrafix and Retro Outlaw Studios.
