Adding to the momentum of International Jazz Day being celebrated in Buffalo, the Buffalo Jazz Collective will be hosting an International Jazz Day Celebration of its own, in order to capitalize on the building momentum. International Jazz Day is a celebration that takes place around the world, with cities hosting concerts, festivals, recitals, and countless events that promote the growth of jazz.
On Sunday, April 30, the Buffalo Jazz Collective will be hosting a jazz concert at Flying Bison Brewery, featuring The All City Jazz Ensemble (comprised of Buffalo Public Schools top jazz musicians), Buffalo Jazz Repertory Sextet, Sabu Adeyola and Friends, and The Mark Filsinger Eleventet. When it comes to jazz in Buffalo, you just can’t beat this line-up of jazz players and enthusiasts.
The event will feature student musicians, some of the area’s up-and-coming artists, as well as local greats in the jazz community. The Sabu Adeyola and Friends set will include a jam session – bring your horn!
“We are currently preparing for an International Jazz Day Celebration on April 30th at Flying Bison Brewing Company,” said Artistic Director for the Buffalo Jazz Collective, Mark Filsinger. “The purpose of International Jazz Day is to bring together communities, locally and globally, and to celebrate its roots and influence – all of which aligns with the Collective’s mission for the Buffalo area. We are very excited to be hosting our own International Jazz Day event that is nationally recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the and the official IJD national events roster.”
