One of the biggest side benefits of new swank hotels opening in Downtown Buffalo is that the existing hotels must step up their game. Last evening, while walking down Main Street, I noticed that the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites Buffalo Downtown Hotel by IHG had gotten a street level makeover along the Chippewa side.
Not only were the curtains pulled to expose the interior, the lobby of the hotel had undergone a dramatic modernization (from when it was Comfort Suites).
The completely dated look of the lobby has now been replaced by a much smarter version of its former self. Finally there’s a reason to actually draw the curtains, which were always closed when it was Comfort Suites.
It’s very refreshing to see this hotel come to life. Viewing the changes, even from the outside, is most welcome. There is a noticeable added vibrancy to the street. Just seeing the activity at the check-in counter, the flat screen TVs, the café style seating along the window, and the vibrant lounge is enough to get someone to stop to see what’s going on inside.
