Drone Racing – A Perfect Fit for Silo City?

If you haven’t seen the ‘sport’ of Drone Racing on TV, then you must check it out. I actually happened upon a bout when I was flipping channels last night. The drone racers had taken over an abandoned shopping mall. The competitive drones were being operated by a Virtual Reality Control System, with pilots wearing VR goggles. Drone racing has big backers and is growing like crazy.

Pro circuits are popping up all over the place. Cities are clamoring to get the races to come to town. The cities with the most unusual playing arenas are getting a lot of action. That’s why I’m proposing that Silo City get in on the action. Marine A would be the perfect setting for a race, not only due to the length of the building with lots of obstacle to navigate, but also the cavernous ceilings that would be quite challenging. Outdoor elements could even be incorporated into the races.

If you haven’t seen a drone race yet, check out the Drone Racing League 0n c|net video below. You will soon understand what I am talking about.
