It’s the ninth day of December, which means that it’s time to get seriously thinking about crossing off those hard-to-please people on your gift list. Today I stumbled upon an Allentown shop called Freshly Dipped. The owners, Eddie Patterson and Bridget Hodges, have been running this urban street boutique for two years.
Freshly Dipped is one of the more unusual retail stores in Buffalo because, according to Eddie, everything is limited edition. He’s not kidding – when you look around and find something that you like, you better get it. Otherwise, it’s pretty much gone forever.
“Instead of selling the clothes that everyone else sells all over the country, we decided to be different,” Eddie told me. “We’re a higher end streetwear boutique, carrying limited edition styles by season. We keep it fresh – Married to the Mob is one of our best sellers. The line is dedicated mostly to women’s wear. The street culture industry is male dominant, so it’s great to see a line that caters to the women. We also carry MBK, Civil Regime and LRG, and then there’s our collaboration with Buffalo Got Sole (local) – we launched the shirts when the Jordan brand dropped a sneaker on Black Friday.”
While talking to Eddie, I continued to browse the clothing racks, until I came across the “Special Bitch” sweatshirt by Married to the Mob (lead image). Now that’s a keeper. The only problem is, they only have a few, because that’s the name of the game. Freshly Dipped only stocks a limited run of styles from each brand, so that you never have to worry about anyone wearing the same thing. Get them while you can!
Aside from the shirts, hoodies, jeans, etc., Freshly Dipped also carries Dunnies! I didn’t know that anyone stocked these adorable little critters anymore (locally). The Dunny action figures run between $60 and $70. Once again, these items are super limited, and hard to get. They are wildly traded.
Freshly Dipped also carries sunglasses and snappy socks, among other fashionable finds. Upon first glance, it doesn’t look like there is a lot in stock… and that’s pretty much the case. But everything you come across is super unique and fleeting. If you’re a fan of urban streetwear, then Freshly Dipped has your name written all over it.
On Saturday, Freshly Dipped is hosting a pop-up shop. Royally Fly will be setting up shop for the day (see event). Eddie tells me that the shop is always on a mission to collaborate with other fashionistas that share common ground. I love the vibe that emanates from this place. I’m happy to say that after two years in business, I have finally tuned into their exclusive fashion forward style and stealthy business etiquette.
