BRO Gift Guide – Fowler’s Pecan Caramel Clusters with Sea Salt

by queenseyes queenseyes December 14, 2016, 11:04 pm 1 Comment

To me, the holidays just aren’t the holidays without chocolate. When it comes to choosing the best chocolate in Buffalo, I always turn to the company that’s been around for, well, as long as I can remember. Fowler’s is the oldest candy company in Buffalo – today it is owned by the Marks family (see story).

While their best seller might be the iconic sponge candy – a product that is synonymous with this city, I have found a personal favorite – pecan caramel clusters with sea salt. I’m a sucker for chocolate sprinkled with sea salt. Then add some almond clusters… does it get any better than that?

Sponge candy is Buffalo in a box.

As I was looking around at the company’s collection of chocolates, I came across a video of owner Ted Marks. In the video, Ted shows us the art behind the making of sponge candy. At one point, Ted says that the company produces 35,000 pounds of sponge candy during a twelve month cycle. That’s a heck of a lot of sponge candy.

Knowing that the pecan caramel clusters with sea salt ($13.99) is one of Fowler’s newest products, I am willing to make a bet that it becomes one of their best sellers. You can pick up these delicious treats at any one of the Fowler’s locations, or if you aren’t fortunate enough to live in Buffalo, then you can visit the Fowler’s website.

Chocolate makes an amazing gift for the holidays. When in doubt about someone’s size or favorite color, play it safe with a tradition that has withstood the test of time… the offering of chocolate!
