Word on the street is that Dash’s is heading for a major expansion on Hertel Avenue. If true, it appears as if the market would be occupying a footprint from the corner of Starin Avenue to the site where its existing business is currently located. Word is circulating that the two-story brick building at the corner of Starin and Hertel would be demolished to make room for a super-sized Dash’s.
The building of a scaled up Dash’s would make sense, now that The Lexington Co-op is scheduled to open up on Hertel. The Dash’s as it exists today looks very dated on the outside, and might not be able to withstand the competition from a progressive competitor if it is not able to significantly expand its offerings.
A Buffalo Rising reader has chimed in, saying that the chiropractor adjacent to Dash’s is moving. He also noted the departure of Marco’s Deli from its longtime location earlier this year. Additional signs that a bigger complex might be on the way include the sighting of workers taking what looked to be core samples a couple of weeks back, according to our reader.
We spoke to a nearby business owner who offered us up similar news by saying that he had heard of Dash’s intentions to clear the land and build anew.
