Christmas Benefit for Friends of Night People

Each year, some of this city’s best bands get together to host a benefit for Buffalo’s homeless. On Saturday, December 3, McCarthyizm, Randle & the Late Night Scandals, Alison Pipitone, Rear View Ramblers, Poor Ould Goat, and A Potter’s Field will hit the stage with awesome tunes and an important message. These are a few of Buffalo’s tried and true bands that have been making waves in the music scene for years. Now, they are on a mission to improve the lives of those who don’t have a lot going for them.

A Buffalo Tradition for going on 15 yrs!

The event is organized each year by Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductees McCarthyizm (lead image). The Christmas Benefit for Friends of Night People is held at Sportsmens Tavern, one of the city’s premier music venues, located in Black Rock. Here’s the breakdown for the evening’s entertainment:

  • McCarthyizm – kickin’ alt/Celtic rock
  • A Potter’s Field – dreamy female vocals and rocking guitar
  • Alison Pipitone – award winning singer/songwriter
  • Rear View Ramblers – top notch swinging bluegrass
  • Poor Ould Goat – high energy traditional Celtic folk
  • Randle & the Late Night Scandals – sensuous female vocals and bluesy, boozy rock & soul

Says Joseph Heary, Director of Friends of Night People, “ With winter on the way, we are in desperate need of men’s winter clothing, coats and boots.  Please consider bringing any items that may help those who will be out in the cold this winter.  We’re looking forward to a big night, especially going in to the busy, high-demand holiday season.”
