Beer and Hymns

Everyone loves beer. Well, a lot of people love beer. And a lot of people like hymns. Actually hymns are appreciated by the select few. That’s probably because there’s no beer available at church… make sense?

If that’s true, then what’s the best way to get more people singing hymns?

There’s a train of thought that goes something like this:

Hymns go better with Beer. Beer goes better with Hymns.

If that’s true, then how do you get the one to go with the other? If they did it with peanut butter and chocolate, then they can do it with beer and hymns.

On Monday, November 14, from 6pm to 8pm, join Reverend Drew Ludwig at Sweet_ness 7 for a two-hour session of beer and hymns. An accompaniment will be led by Theresa Quinn – the guests will be able to choose and lead the hymns. The event is in support of Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church.

$10 in advance.

$15 at the door.

Additional donations can help place your hymn towards the top of the pack. Hymns can also be retired for a year, or get moved into heavy rotation by the participants (singers).

Admission includes your first drink (N/A drinks available) and snacks.

Reserve your tickets by donating the appropriate amount here.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
