Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation has secured an honor of distinction for its most recent residential development project – The Sinclair. The project was awarded 2016 Best Residential-Buffalo by the NAIOP Upstate NY Chapter. Located at 465 Washington Street, The Sinclair has been transformed from its former utilitarian run of the mill state, to a real showstopper in Downtown Buffalo. The bones of the building were thankfully still intact, and in need of a developer with enough vision and backing to pull off the project. In the end, Ciminelli fulfilled all of the NAIOP Upstate NY Chapter’s criteria when it came to “project concept, innovation, strengths, and features.”

Today, The Sinclair boasts 45 residential units, 10,000 sq. ft. of office space, and 2,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Restaurateur Molly Ford Koessler has been eyeing that space for a ramen and sushi restaurant and anticipates to sign the deal soon.
Overall, the six-story, 78,176 sq. ft. building has contributed immensely to the rebirth of the surrounding neighborhood. The building, originally constructed in 1909 for Sinclair Rooney & Co., an established millinery, has once again found a role in this city’s productivity. Its proximity to public transportation and other nearby developments, was a major factor when the Ciminelli team first considered the project. The design team was comprised of CJS Architects and Z Design. SM Hayes Construction and First Niagara Bank also played key roles in the completion of the multi-use building, which was wrapped up in June.
The NAIOP Upstate NY Chapter will recognize all 2016 award winners at an event on November 10, 2016 in Rochester.
