SEAR Sizzles @ the Avant

The restaurant scene is heating up. In fact, it’s sizzling. Adding to the incredible momentum that we are seeing in the industry, Uniland Construction has just finished construction of SEAR restaurant in the Avant. According to Uniland, the $1 million job entailed an entire renovation of the interior of the 10,000 sq.’ space. Even the former Avant Lounge Bar was moved, which means that new utilities were rerun throughout. Upon opening, SEAR will be a striking new addition to the culinary scene in Buffalo, with dramatic new lighting and red bolts of color.

Some of the signature features include a 2,500 bottle wine wall in the dining room, two private rooms, state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, and an expansive bar. The team that put SEAR together is a mix of sports personalities, restaurateurs and CEOs – restaurateur David Schutte of Oliver’s and Creekview Restaurants, former Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson, cornerback Terrence McGee and punter Brian Moorman, David Anderson, President and CEO of BlueCross BlueShield, Dave Pietrowski, President of LoVullo Associates and Ron Raccuia, President of ADPRO Sports.


SEAR also has connections with Pegula Sports and Entertainment. The company will be handling the marketing for the restaurant, as well as the branding and creative services.

“Uniland has enjoyed working hand-in-hand with Dave, Ron and the team at Pegula Sports and Entertainment to craft this unique space at Avant,” said Jill Pawlik, Senior Marketing Manager at Uniland Development Company. “We think it adds a modern and vibrant dining and socializing experience to the central business district as well as a great new venue for our guests at the hotel and our residents and businesses in Avant.” 

Once open, Executive Chef JT Nicholson will be serving up prime and dry-aged steak selections, along with seafood and sharable plates and sides. Nicholson will also be rolling out an extensive dessert menu and a substantial wine list. The bar will be serving up classic and craft cocktails. A soft opening is underway starting this evening. SEAR will be officially open to the public on Thursday, November 17.
