Parker’s Soccer Darts Tournament

Soccer darts? What the heck is soccer darts? Whatever it is, it looks like a heck of a lot of fun. Apparently Soccer Darts is a new game where people kick soccer balls at a giant dartboard. Parker’s (Pitch Bar – The British Chippy) has a soccer dart board in the back of its production facility, where they also installed a football and rugby pitch.

Just like darts, players (teams of four) aim for the board and the highest scores win. Unlike darts, teams kick soccer balls that stick to the surface. It’s kind of a neat concept, especially for soccer nuts who try to incorporate a soccer ball into everything that they do.

Parker’s Soccer Darts Tournament offers three days of various competitions, and entry is free. The way that it works is as follows:

Teams of four will shoot three balls each at the dart board and the team’s total score will enter our leaderboard. At the end of the three-day competition the team in each category with the highest score will win their prize!

The tournament is ongoing for the next two weeks, we will put it up on days where it is not too windy,” said Vicky Parker, co-owner of Parker’s.” “We got the soccer darts and boards custom made in the UK and it arrived a few weeks ago, around 40 foot tall and yes the balls stick to the board. We use an extendable net to remove the balls. If people give us a call before stopping down we will let them know if it’s up, or if they look at our Facebook page we will post each day… if it’s good weather, it will be up! There are prizes for an over 21 team and then a family team. People can drink whilst they are down here playing too. Also Towne MINI is offering a prize to a team that beats the Towne MINI team’s score. We just installed a UK telephone box yesterday too, so people can come down and have their pictures taken with it. We are also building out a UK style high street food court!”

To add to the authenticity of this awesome British establishment in Buffalo, NY, Pitch Bar has just installed its own K6 telephone box.

The first day of tournament play is Saturday, October 22. The competition runs from 1:30pm to 5pm. There is an adult category and a family category, to ensure that everyone has a chance to compete. There are even cool prizes designated for the winning teams, appropriate to the distinct age groups.

Don’t forget to stop into Pitch Bar for some great beers, fish and chips, and authentic pork pies!
