NF Skate Park Opens in Hyde Park

Community Driven Skate Park Comes to Fruition

© by Robert Lynch

After several years of planning and public participation, the City of Niagara Falls finally has its first skate park. Located on Hyde Park Boulevard just a short walk from Sal Maglie Stadium and the Niagara Falls Veterans Memorial, the skate park is highly visible and and accessible to the entire community. Two years ago, Niagara Falls Community Development launched a public participation series to begin the design and select the location of the long desired skate park. With insight from the Niagara Falls Youth Bureau, over 600 petition signatures, and various comments via public meetings and social media, NF Skate Park was crafted. The park, funded through both federal CBDG and foundation grant funding, illustrates an authentic vision of the community and is a shining example of a public driven development.
