New Buffalo Houses In 2016

Construction on several city houses has finished or is nearing completion this year. Several new builds have recently started and several more are in the planning stages.

Many city residents have noticed the new house at the corner of Chapin Parkway and Potomac Avenue (lead image). Designed by Buffalo architect John Wingfelder, its finished appearance is also pleasing. It is not a McMansion as some initially feared.

Mr. Wingfelder is also the architect of the new house that will be built at 647 Lafayette Avenue in the coming months. While I opposed the demolition of the previous house at that address, I have also seen the drawings of the new house and found that it will be very similar to what was built on Chapin Parkway.

Buffalo Rising reported on the construction of a new house at 536 West Ferry last year (see above), and the construction of a new house at 179 West Tupper earlier this year. The two family house on West Ferry is now finished and the single family house on West Tupper looks to have a good start.

As you can see from several of the photos in this article, construction is well underway at a new build at 20 West Avenue (see below).

And the small house at the corner of Linwood and West Delavan (see below).

Joel Giambra has also begun the construction of several duplexes at the corner of Plymouth and Pennsylvania.

I have also been told that a single family house will be constructed next to one of the duplexes with a Pennsylvania Street address. His 7th Street project will also get started in the near future.

Besides the houses that I mentioned that will be constructed next year, we can also expect new builds in the Old First Ward on Louisiana Street and on the West Side on Rhode Island Street and Columbus Parkway.
