BRO interview with Zach Dietsch
What can people expect to see/hear this time? Will there be some good political fodder?
The great thing about stand-up is that even in booking the show myself, I have no idea what to expect material wise. There are no guidelines or themes to the show. Some comics are political, some talk about their real lives, and some talk about how Cheerios are just little donuts that taste like construction paper.
How has the series been going?
This is the 6th show in the series, which I started back in December 2015. So far, the shows have been a blast, and most of them have even sold out. The Buffalo comedy scene is in full effect, and I just want to keep putting funny people in front of great crowds at Babeville.
What are your hopes and dreams for the comedy series in Buffalo in 2017?
My goal is to keep giving people a fun night out, and to keep each show different, so the audience gets something totally new every time.
How did you choose the comedians this time around?
This show features Kevin Thomas Jr, winner of the 2016 Buffalo’s Funniest Person contest at Helium Comedy Club, as well as James Kurdziel from 103.3 The Edge, along with a handful of the funniest new comics from Buffalo and Rochester.
Doing stand-up myself, I spend a lot of time at local open mics and shows. It’s easy to notice who’s consistently funny, and new comics are popping up all the time.
What Buffalo comedian (that left town) would you most want to see return to be a part of your show?
I’d love to book Joe Pera on my show. He hasn’t been back to buffalo in a while and he’s been doing great things in New York since he’s been there. Also, having Garfunkel & Oates at Babeville would be amazing. I guess Riki Lindhome is from Portville, NY. Close enough.
