Let’s face it, brunch in Buffalo is a big deal. Especially now that we can get things rolling out on Sundays even earlier… now that the Blue Laws are being repealed. That means that people get more time to enjoy themselves after a long week of working and playing.
Every Buffalonian has his or her favorite brunch spots, for myriad reasons. Whether it’s a killer Bloody Mary, a coffee and pastry station, or an option to build your own omelette, brunches around the city are plentiful and diverse.
For the third year running, Hydraulic Hearth is teaming up with BreadHive to deliver a highly coveted brunch called Bagels & Brooze. The collaboration between the Larkinville restaurant/brewery and the West Side co-op bakery ensures that customers will, once again, get their fair share of bagels and lox, vegan banh mi, and an a la carte “design your own bagel” menu. To top it off, the bagels are all freshly baked on site in a wood-assist hearth oven. Now what could be better than that?

Ok, what if myriad cocktail selections were added to the mix, such as “brews, bloody and bubbly” (made with in-house beers from Community Beer Works), the Bloody Wilbur, and beermosas? Then, top it off with some live music by the Rear View Ramblers, Vinnie DeRosa, and Jony James, DJs Shane & Tone, and La Marimba.
Along with the weekly brunch line-up, there are four special events planned for this brunch season:
- Coffee Brunch on November 12th, with coffee-infused options for both food and drink
- Hip-Hop Brunch with DJs Shane & Tone on December 17th
- Jam Brunch on February 25th, with jam on both menus and music from the Dead Alliance of Buffalo; and Shabbat
- Brunch on April 8th with live music from Ahavaraba
