Grab your friends and loved ones and head to the West Side Bazaar this Saturday, October 29th for some cultural fun and food to celebrate the Nepali Hindu holiday, Diwali. The event is being hosted by the local community organization Sanatan Dharmic Tatha Sanskritik Seva Samaj, Inc. – a Bhutanese Nepali Religious and Social Non for Profit Organization, along with Sally Bhandari – owner of Nepali Clothing & Cosmetics in the Bazaar.
Diwali is all about the conquering of good over evil, light over dark, and the coming together of families, so it is a perfect event for everyone this fall. Come and enjoy the celebration with a diverse community from all around the world.
Lamin Tamang, one of the speakers at the event, was a teacher in Nepal in both a refugee camp, and in 3 private boarding schools.. Lamin taught Social science, Moral science, English, physical training, and environmental health.
He helped heal/teach refugees in a Bhutanese/Nepali refugee camp through yoga, meditation, reiki healing. In Buffalo he is a Nepali community leader, motivational speaker, and currently works with the Buffalo Public School as a Registration Cultural Aide.
The celebration will include activities such as Deusi Bhailo and Bhaili Song and dance, cultural foods, and some education about the holiday itself by a local speakers including Lamin Tamang.
